Five months ago, our team was looking for ways to brighten up our menu and offer a more authentic experience. The ingredient we decided to hone in on was rising in popularity and versatility, chamoy. Traditionally, this sauce is made with dried fruits, and spices. It packs a sweet and tart punch with a hint of heat. Popularly drizzled on fruits to create a delicious explosion of flavor with every bite.
We began with a simple question.

The answer shocked us all, we couldn't believe we were adding it to our handcrafted mangonadas.
Ingredients for Chilerito chamoy, which is consistently one of the "best" when Googled: water, salt, sugar, citric acid, chili peppers, artificial flavor, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate as preservatives, FD&C red No. 40.
We immediately knew we had to take action. We looked for an alternative made with traditional ingredients but came up empty-handed. After months of testing and trying out many recipes, we are happy to presentChamoy Azteca. It is vegan, gluten-free, all-natural and made with no preservatives or dyes.
Initially, it was not intended to be for sale. We made it to serve with our offerings in our brick and mortar locations. Our customers' voice, however, was loud and clear, "We want to take this home and add it to our cocktails, beers, wings, and other dishes".
